Clinic Policies & Procedures

Controlled Substances

Benzodiazepines

New patients-If you are prescribed benzodiazepines to take on a daily basis
by another provider, please do not expect the provider(s) at Peace of Mind

Mental Health and Wellness Center to continue this Rx for you. Due to
evidence based literature that shows the risks and side effects of
long term use of benzodiazepines, prescriptions for daily
benzodiazepine use will not be continued. There will be a plan created to
taper and eventually discontinue these medications. It will be at the
discretion of the provider(s) to prescribe benzodiazepines for short term
use only.

Stimulants

With prescriptions for stimulants, blood pressure and heart rate will be
checked at every appointment. If there is a cause for concern due to
elevated blood pressure, heart rate,or any other cardiovascular issues,
stimulant medication will be stopped until further medical evaluation is done
and clearance to take stimulant medication is given per a medical or
cardiology provider.

Urine Drug Screens
All new patients will be required to submit a urine sample. Random urine
drug screens may be conducted at the request of the provider(s) and at
least twice per year.

No Show/ Late Cancellations
We ask that you call/notify the office at least 24 hours in advance if you
need to cancel and/or reschedule your appointment. No shows/late
cancellations will be charged a $50 fee that will be charged to your card on
file. Giving us notice allows for other clients to be worked into the
provider(s) schedules if needed.
